1 Piece Stainless Steel Ball Valve

The 1 piece ball valve is the most cost effective stainless steel ball valve in our range — also referred to as a one piece ball valve, 1pc ball valve or single piece ball valve. Manufactured from high grade Stainless Steel 316 as standard, the single piece body casting eliminates joints and leak points, making it one of the most robust and reliable designs available. As a standard port (reduced port) valve, the internal bore is one pipe size smaller than the pipe it connects to — resulting in a compact, lightweight valve ideal for general on/off flow control wherever flow rate is not the primary concern.

Available in sizes 1/4" to 2" with Female NPT threads as standard, rated to 1000 PSI WOG (Water, Oil and Gas). All ProFlow Dynamics 1 piece ball valves are fully serviceable — PTFE seats are replaceable by disconnecting one end from the pipeline and removing the cap via an Allen key socket to access the internal components. For compact installations in sizes 1/4" to 3/4" see our mini ball valves. For full port ball valves with unrestricted flow see our 2 piece ball valves. Key Features

    • ● Single Piece SS316 Body: The valve body is cast from a single piece of Stainless Steel 316 — there are no body joints or seams, which eliminates potential leak points and produces an exceptionally robust and durable valve. CF8M marked on the body confirms SS316 construction.
    • ● Standard Port (Reduced Bore) Design: The internal bore is one pipe size smaller than the pipe it connects to — a 1" valve has a 3/4" bore. This produces a compact, lightweight design that is more affordable than a full port equivalent, with a manageable pressure drop suitable for most general flow control applications.
    • ● Fully Serviceable — PTFE Seat Replacement: Unlike many 1 piece ball valves that are designed as disposable, all ProFlow Dynamics 1 piece valves are fully serviceable. The reinforced PTFE (RPTFE) seats can be replaced by disconnecting the end of the valve that contains the socket cap and removing it via an Allen key to access the internal components. In many cases it is easier to remove the valve from the pipeline completely before servicing, since the socket cap is only accessible from one end.
    • ● Reinforced PTFE (RPTFE) Seats & Seals: Reinforced polytetrafluoroethylene seats provide superior durability compared to standard PTFE, with excellent chemical resistance and a low coefficient of friction for smooth handle operation. Safe operating temperature range -4°F to 302°F (-20°C to 150°C).
    • ● Blow-Out Proof Stem: The stem is machined with a retaining shoulder that prevents it from being ejected from the valve body under pressure — a critical safety feature ensuring the valve remains safe to operate at maximum working pressure.
    • ● Lever Style Locking Handle: Flat lever handle with locking mechanism — lockable in both the open and closed positions to prevent accidental operation. Blue PVC grip cover provides additional grip and comfort. Handle covers can be custom branded with your company name for resellers and OEM manufacturers.
    • ● Female NPT Threaded Connections: Female NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads on both ends connect quickly and securely to any standard NPT male pipe thread without adapters or special tools. Available in sizes 1/4" through to 2".
    • ● 1000 PSI WOG Pressure Rating: Rated to 1000 PSI for Water, Oil and Gas applications at ambient temperature — suitable for the vast majority of general industrial and commercial flow control applications. The WOG rating is stamped directly on the valve body for easy verification.
    • ● Bidirectional Flow: Controls flow in both directions without any preferred installation orientation — no risk of installing the valve the wrong way around.

What is a 1 Piece Ball Valve?

A 1 piece ball valve is a quarter-turn shut-off valve whose body is cast from a single piece of metal — in our case Stainless Steel 316 (CF8M). Unlike 2 piece and 3 piece ball valves which have a body assembled from multiple sections, the single piece casting has no body joints or seams, eliminating potential leak points and producing an exceptionally robust and durable valve. Because the body is cast as one piece, a smaller ball is used internally — which means 1 piece valves are always standard port (reduced bore), with an internal bore one pipe size smaller than the pipe they connect to. This makes them the most compact and affordable stainless steel ball valve option, ideal for general on/off flow control in water, oil and gas applications up to 1000 PSI WOG. For applications requiring unrestricted full bore flow, see our 2 piece ball valves and 3 piece ball valves.

    Pressure-Temperature Rating

Our 1 piece ball valves are rated to 1000 PSI WOG at ambient temperature. As operating temperature increases, the maximum allowable working pressure decreases — this is standard behavior for all PTFE seated ball valves. The pressure-temperature chart below shows the relationship between operating temperature and maximum pressure across the full size range. Always verify the pressure rating at your specific operating temperature before installation — particularly in applications that combine elevated temperature with higher system pressures

1 piece ball valve pressure temperature chart showing maximum working pressure decreasing from 1000 PSI WOG at ambient temperature to minimum at 302 degrees F 150 degrees C

    • ● At ambient temperature: 1000 PSI maximum working pressure
    • ● As temperature increases: Maximum working pressure decreases progressively
    • ● Maximum operating temperature: 302°F (150°C)
    • ● Minimum operating temperature: -4°F (-20°C)

➜ For full pressure-temperature data see our Ball Valve Specifications page.

What is a Standard Port (Reduced Port) Ball Valve?

A standard port ball valve — also known as a reduced port or reduced bore ball valve — has an internal bore that is smaller than the internal diameter of the pipe it connects to. On a standard port valve the bore is exactly one pipe size smaller — so a 1" standard port valve has a 3/4" bore, and a 1/2" standard port valve has a 3/8" bore. This differs from a full port (full bore) ball valve where the bore matches the pipe ID exactly with no flow restriction.

The reduced bore produces a compact and lightweight valve that costs less to manufacture than a full port equivalent — making the standard port 1 piece ball valve the most affordable stainless steel ball valve option. The trade-off is a small pressure drop across the valve and a slightly reduced flow rate compared to a full port valve. For most general on/off flow control applications this is not significant, and the cost saving makes the standard port the right choice. Where maximum flow rate is critical or where the media contains suspended solids, a full port valve is recommended.

When to Choose a 1 Piece Ball Valve:

    • When cost is the priority — the 1 piece is the most affordable stainless steel ball valve in our range
    • When installation space is limited — the compact single piece body is smaller and lighter than a 2 or 3 piece equivalent
    • When simple on/off flow control is all that is required — no need for full port flow
    • When the media is clean — no suspended solids or particles that could accumulate at the reduced bore
    • When sizes up to 2" NPT are sufficient for the application
    • When a fully serviceable valve is needed at the lowest price point — all ProFlow Dynamics 1 piece valves have replaceable PTFE seats

Where to Use a 1 Piece Ball Valve

The 1 piece stainless steel ball valve suits the majority of general industrial and commercial on/off flow control applications where compact size and cost effectiveness are priorities. Its single piece body, robust construction and 1000 PSI WOG rating make it suitable across a broad range of industries and media types.

    • ● General Industrial: Flow isolation and shut-off on water, oil and gas lines. The 1000 PSI WOG rating covers most standard industrial requirements.
    • ● Water Treatment & Utilities: Lead-free SS316 construction suits potable water, water treatment and utility applications. Resistant to chlorinated water.
    • ● Chemical & Petrochemical: SS316 with PTFE seats handles a wide range of process chemicals and corrosive media in upstream, midstream and downstream applications.
    • ● HVAC & Refrigeration: Compact lightweight design suits HVAC installations where space is limited and a simple reliable shut-off is required.
    • ● Residential & Commercial Plumbing: Lead-free and competitively priced — increasingly used as a direct replacement for brass ball valves in plumbing applications.
    • ● OEM Manufacturing: The most cost effective ball valve option for OEM manufacturers. Custom handle labeling available — contact us for details.

When to choose a different valve type:

How to Service a 1 Piece Ball Valve

All ProFlow Dynamics 1-piece ball valves are fully serviceable — unlike many 1-piece designs on the market, which are disposable and must be replaced when worn. The PTFE seats and seals can be replaced by disconnecting the end of the valve that contains the socket cap and removing it via an Allen key to access the internal components. In many cases, it is easier to remove the valve from the pipeline completely before servicing, since the socket cap is only accessible from one end.

Signs Your Ball Valve Needs Servicing:

    • ● Leaking through the valve when closed: The most common sign of worn seats. When the ball no longer seals tightly against the PTFE seats, media passes through the valve even in the fully closed position. Seat replacement will restore full shut-off performance.
    • ● Leaking at the stem: If leakage is visible at the top of the valve where the stem exits the body, the stem packing requires attention. This is less common than seat wear but can occur in high cycle applications.
    • ● Stiff or difficult handle operation: Can indicate worn or contaminated seats, or media build-up inside the valve body. Flushing the valve open and closed several times under flow can sometimes resolve this — if not, seat replacement is recommended.
    • ● Handle or cover damage: The lever handle and blue PVC grip cover are replaceable on all designs without affecting valve performance.

How to Replace the Seats — Step by Step:

    • ● Step 1: Isolate the valve from the system and depressurize the line. Ensure all media has been drained or purged before proceeding.
    • ● Step 2: Identify the socket cap end — this is the port on the same side as where the handle connects to the valve body. Disconnect this end from the pipeline. In many cases it is easier to remove the valve from the pipeline completely before proceeding.
    • ● Step 3: Turn the valve to the open position — this centers the ball and allows the internal components to be accessed once the cap is removed.
    • ● Step 4: Insert an Allen key (hex key) into the socket cap and unscrew it to open the valve body and expose the internal components.
    • ● Step 5: Remove the worn PTFE seats from both ends of the valve body.
    • ● Step 6: Clean the seat area and ball thoroughly to remove any debris or media residue.
    • ● Step 7: Insert the new PTFE seats and refit the socket cap — tighten firmly but do not overtighten.
    • ● Step 8: Cycle the valve open and closed several times to bed the new seats in correctly.
    • ● Step 9: Reconnect the valve to the pipeline, slowly repressurize the system and check for leaks before returning to full service.

    When to Replace vs Repair:

    • ● Repair if only the seats, stem packing or handle are worn — all straightforward on ProFlow Dynamics 1 piece valves.
    • ● Replace if the valve body is cracked, severely corroded or physically damaged beyond serviceable condition.
    • ● Consider replacement on smaller sizes (1/4" and 3/8") where the low unit cost may make full replacement more practical than repair.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is a 1 piece ball valve?

A 1 piece ball valve is a quarter-turn shut-off valve cast from a single piece of Stainless Steel 316 — no body joints, no seams, no potential leak points. Because the body is cast as one piece, it is always standard port (reduced bore) — with a bore diameter one pipe size smaller than the connecting pipe. It is the most affordable and compact stainless steel ball valve option, rated to 1000 PSI WOG. Choose a 1 piece when cost and compact size are the priority and simple on/off flow control is all that is required. Choose a 2 piece ball valve when full port unrestricted flow is needed, or a 3 piece ball valve when full inline serviceability without removing the valve from the pipeline is required.

What is the difference between a standard port and reduced port ball valve?

Standard port and reduced port refer to the same thing — a ball valve where the internal bore is smaller than the pipe it connects to. On a standard port valve the bore is exactly one pipe size smaller than the nominal pipe size. A 1" standard port valve has a 3/4" bore. This is in contrast to a full port valve where the bore matches the pipe ID exactly. The terms standard port, reduced port and reduced bore are all used interchangeably in the industry — all refer to a valve with a bore smaller than the pipe.

Are ProFlow Dynamics 1 piece ball valves serviceable?

Yes — all ProFlow Dynamics 1 piece ball valves are fully serviceable, which is not the case with many 1 piece designs on the market. This means a leaking valve does not necessarily require full replacement — seat replacement restores full performance at a fraction of the cost. Handles and handle covers are also replaceable on all designs.

What sizes are available in 1 piece stainless steel ball valves?

Our standard stocked range covers sizes 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2" and 2" NPT. Sizes 2-1/2" to 4" are available on request at 800 PSI WOG - contact us for lead times and pricing. For compact installations in sizes 1/4" to 3/4" our mini ball valves offer a smaller body option. For sizes up to 4" in stock see our 2 piece ball valves.

What does CF8M mean on a ball valve?

CF8M is the ASTM casting designation for Stainless Steel 316. When you see CF8M stamped on a valve body it confirms the body is manufactured from SS316 — the most corrosion resistant grade of stainless steel commonly used for industrial ball valves. SS316 contains approximately 2% molybdenum which gives it superior resistance to chlorides, salt water, acids and aggressive chemicals compared to SS304. All ProFlow Dynamics 1 piece ball valves are CF8M marked for easy grade verification on installation.
